Happy Birthday to me...

The last birthday with a 2 in front.  Kind of strange to think about.  I still feel like I could be in college...and if it weren't for these two kiddos with my all day I hope that's what other people still think of me.  Despite the age (which really isn't a big deal), I had an amazing birthday.  Beat last years out of the water (there were tears on my birthday last year and not happy ones).  We really celebrated it Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday was a perfect family day. One of those days I always long for on not so good days.   The days that just make you feel happy.  Started with a lazy morning where D did all the work.  He made breakfast and I sat in my PJ's. It was sunny and beautiful we went for a walk and played at the park.  My awesome S.I.L. took the kids that evening. Than me and the hubby had pedicures and went shopping for new shoes (that I can't wait to wear come sunny weather).  Then topped it off with a romantic fish dinner just for two at Anthony's.

Then Sunday we had this delicious cake with good friends.  It was wonderful.  Couldn't ask for more.  To another glorious year full of laughter, family, memories and lots of delicious cake!

A Mom's Thoughts

My world...

These little feet and the little people that they are attached to are my world.  My days are filled with their voices, their laughter, their crying, their whining and all the fun sounds that come with them.  I work all day to make sure they are comfortable, happy, feed, healthy, safe, well rested and most of all loved.  That's what I want most...for them to feel and know that I love them.

Just as in all important jobs, the pressure can be a little over consuming.  I often wonder at the end of the day as I finally have some quiet and much needed alone time...am I doing enough.  Have I paid enough attention to them.  Or did I worry to much about what I have to get done?  Did I take them for granted today?

It's weird how this whole Motherhood thing works...you work all day long for them but sometimes you forget to even spend 10 minutes with them and what they want to do.  I say, " just a minute buddy I have to finish the laundry" or "wait honey I have to take a shower" or "make some dinner". There are tons of distraction everyday.

I am assuming these pressures and all consuming thoughts are normal and just come with the job.  And I accept that...I just know that I only get one shot at this and I don't want to screw it up.
Everyday is a new day and I can chose how the day goes. I chose to be their Mom and I choose everyday to be their Mom.  Bring on the pressure, bring on the crying, and bring on the love. I wouldn't give of that up for anything.

Nascar

T is in love with cars.  His cousin has a collection of  Nascars that he loves to play with when he visits and that same cousin got him a small collection for Christmas.  He plays with them all the time.  So the other day I saw an ad for the upcoming Daytona 500 and thought it would be fun to introduce T to what Nascar really is.  I knew he would be excited about it...but didn't anticipate how much.

He was hooked right away. He got really into it.  He wanted to know all the cars names and numbers. He got his Nascars out and started his own "Daytona 500".  He was basically bouncing off the walls...it was hilarious. We couldn't watch all 5 hours of course.  So I made sure I recorded the end so he could watch it when he woke up, it didn't until ended 10.  He has enjoyed watching that everyday since.   I don't know me may have a future race car driver here....hopefully not I don't know if I could handle that.
